In this interview, we talk with Adam Levenson and Ollie Glatzer of Somatone Interactive. Adam is the COO, and Ollie is a Sr. Producer. Both are musicians, composers, and game audio veterans. Somatone, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, is a worldwide leader in sound design, original music composition, voice production, and audio implementation. They support 15 full-time team members and several independent contractors and have credits to more than 1,000 games, including many top-sellers, across all genres. They work with AAA publishers and indie developers, in PC, console, mobile, casino, VR and more.
As this is “Cultivating a Career” month at DMN, Adam and Ollie were generous in their advice on this subject and all other questions that I put to them, including:

Somatone Interactive, Inc. was co-founded in 2003 by fellow Berklee College of Music graduates Nick Thomas and Kane Minkus, whose shared passions for music and video games fueled their vision to create a top-quality, one-stop audio production shop. This innovative pair initially worked on feature films, national ad campaigns and AAA games, eventually concentrating their creative energies on the burgeoning casual games sector of the industry. About Adam Levenson
Chief Operating Officer
Adam brings 23 years+ of experience in virtually every aspect of sound and music production to his role as COO at Somatone, where he oversees Somatone’s daily operations and focuses on advancing the company’s position as a leading global service provider. Adam held audio and music directorships at Interplay, EA and Shiny Entertainment. As Senior Director of the Central Audio and Talent groups at Activision, he oversaw audio production and audio technologies worldwide and contributed to major franchises such as Call of Duty, Skylanders, Spiderman and Transformers. Adam earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance from Boston University and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Music from the California Institute of the Arts. He is now a J.D. candidate at Loyola Law School.
About Ollie Glatzer
Ollie has a varied background as a classically trained violist, sound designer, and composer who has worked on projects over the past decade which include film, dance, experimental media and games. Specifically, he has produced console, mobile and PC game audio for Sony, THQ, Harebrained Schemes, Griptonite, Flyinglab, Spin Master and many others. Ollie also acquired business experience as an account manager for the award-winning independent newspaper, East Bay Express. He is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music with a degree in Music and Viola Performance and is also a practicing visual artist.
