Congratulations are in order for the Beep Book Kickstarter campaign, it reached its funding goal!!!  Thanks for all your support for this very worthwhile project!  The campaign is still going, so if you have not reserved your copy of the 2 volume Beep Book with nearly 1000 pages of interviews, fully transcribed from interviews with 100 game audio professionals, then head over to the Kickstarter campaign now!  This may be your only chance to get a hard copy of the book.

In order to celebrate the funding of the campaign, and also to celebrate Beep Week here at Designing Music NOW, we wanted to share with you this 40 minute video created by Leonard Paul, the film’s composer, about how he made the sounds for the Beep logo in Pure Data.

If you are interested in learning more about Pure Data from a master of the program, this is a fantastic place to look.  Leonard is not only an incredibly nice guy, he is also an amazing teacher!  This video walks you through step-by-step of how he created the Pure Data patch for the logo…check it out!

“I made this video since I wanted to help people learn more about audio techniques used on ‘old-school’ video game systems. Pure Data is a free download, so anyone can follow along and learn from the patch. All of the details in Pure Data are carefully explained to allow anyone interested in audio to understand how everything works, even if they haven’t used Pure Data before.”
